Eucalypt Genetics 2019 child care support fund
Caring responsibilities can make it difficult and expensive for parents of small children to attend conferences. This disproportionately affects women, particularly those who have experienced recent career breaks, who would greatly benefit from the networking opportunities conferences can provide. The Eucalypt Genetics 2019 conference aims to help address this by providing small grants to help with caring responsibilities during the conference.
Four grants of $500 (AUD) each will be awarded and may be used in whatever way is best for the recipient’s personal circumstances, such as contributing towards hiring professional child care during the conference, contributing towards the costs of bringing a companion to assist with child care, or to help pay for additional care at home to cover the recipient’s absence. Grants are not to be used for existing child care arrangements.
To apply, complete the form below or send a short paragraph to Rebecca.Jones@utas.edu.au outlining the need for the support and how the support will be used. Applicants should outline any funding opportunities available at their own institution for such purposes and whether these have been accessed. Recipients must be presenting a poster or talk – note that abstracts for posters are still being accepted.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until all four are awarded, and recipients will be notified within a week.
Recipients must complete a short report (one paragraph) on how the funding supported their attendance, and provide evidence of acquittal, due one month following the conference.
